Situated on the banks of the River Rannoch, Riverside is a Victorian estate worker's cottage set in the heart of the West Highland estate of Ardtornish. It is an excellent base from which to explore Morvern, the Ardnamurchan peninsula and the Isle of Mull. You can leave the front door and walk in any direction to find the sea and rugged coastline, or into the surrounding hills for hill lochs and waterfalls.
Ardtornish is found on the west coast of Scotland on the Morvern Peninsula, and this working estate prides itself in having one of the most spectacular landscapes in the UK. The estate extends to approximately 60 square miles of rolling hills, ancient woodlands, lochs and rivers with a coastline on the Sound of Mull and Loch Linnhe of 20 miles. The Morvern Peninsula is separated from the Isle of Mull by a narrow strip of water called the Sound of Mull. There is a regular ferry service from Lochaline to explore Mull and Iona.
The semi-detached cottage is deliberately simple with no TV; it is definitely a place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and in a way step back to a time gone by. It is beautifully decorated by restoring the original Victorian features of an estate housein a variety of warm colours and the walls are lined with interesting prints and pictures.
There are two double and one single bedrooms upstairs furnished with traditional brass beds, leading from a landing with table and chair for a quite moment of writing. The wet room has a body warmer/drier as in a marina. This can warm the room and dry you without a towel! Downstairs there is a kitchen with table and chairs, dining room with solid fuel Rayburn and double fridge. The sitting room has an open fire and lots of books. There is a stereo for music and VHS monitor with masses of films.
